Schedule

General program

After arrival at Hurghada (HRG) International Airport a friendly host will pick you up and guide you to the transfer-service to Safaga. Approx. 45 minutes later you arrive at the Center. According to the time you first go into your room and join us for the “Love at the first Ride” welcome meeting at the Tornado Surf Center (all other, necessary informations are provided in your room).
At the welcome meeting you will get introduced to the local ambassadors, meet the other girls and get informed about the program for the next 6 exciting days.
Every morning and every afternoon we will come together for a “join-up” to discuss the program and activities for the day, respectively for the evening.
After the morning “join-up” we will start with the Tornado Surf Boat to the lovely and amazing Soma Bay, where we will spend the whole day.
A delicious lunch will be served on the boat.
You can choose between a morning and an afternoon coaching-session/lesson, which always lasts one hour. In any case, before the session/lesson, you and your instructor will discuss your goals for the day.
During one of the morning sessions there is the possibility for a specific kitesurfing photo-shooting.
A special video session will be done during one of the afternoon sessions, with an analysis of your technique by your kite instructor (if requested).

Social evening program

On one of these days, we will celebrate the famous Tobia Island Party (depending on wind conditions), enjoying the sunset, a nice BBQ with campfire, music and fun. Girls, already riding quite safely, are invited to do a downwinder from Soma Bay to Tobia Island. All others just enjoy the short boat trip to Tobia Island.
The boat party will be done depending on the wind conditions. You will be spoiled with a delicious dinner in a great atmosphere under the oriental sky. If the wind (again) plays along, you can enjoy (maybe full-) moon kiting in Soma Bay.
Downtown Safaga will expect you with a special oriental evening and dinner at lovely Nemo hide away. Enjoy the nightly beach or take a refreshing swim at the pool … or both!
One of Safagas hot spots will invite you for a chilly BBQ under open skies with a cosy ambience (just leave your shoes at the front desk).

Departure day

After breakfast you will be transferred to Hurghada International Airport to reach your return flight in time. We will take care for a smooth operation.

Notes

There are no activities on the arrival and departure days.
The final schedule, which you will receive on arrival at the hotel, may be adjusted or modified depending on wind conditions.
The boat will be “Kite Adventure”
In case of no wind days, we will compensate with wakeboarding, stand up paddling, relaxing, spa, etc.

What is the Girls Kite Camp “Love at the first Ride” for?

The Girls Kite Camp is organized just for females. No matter which kiting level you already have or if you are a bloody beginner, this is your chance to start this exciting sport without (always helpful meant) distortion from boys ;-). The whole program is specially organized and tailored for females.

What are the advantages of a Girls Kite Camp?

The 6-day camp gives you the advantage to be with like-minded girls, concentrate on learning or improving kiting and benefit from a lesson package specially developed for girls. Only professional coaches and kite instructors are there to teach and instruct you.

What happens if there is no wind?

We offer you wakeboarding, stand up paddling, snorkelling
You can go for a massage at the local SPA
Join us for a quad tour into the desert with a visit of an original Bedouin village
You can also just relax on the boat.

Who can join the Girls Kite Camp?

Females of any age, who are keen to learn kiting or are already addicted to it, are welcome to join.

The IKO Kite Evolution Clinics is an advanced program of 5 days, developed to improve as kiteboarder, with the freedom to explore kiteboarding from various angles. The help of a Kiteboard Coach and the possibility to have personalized goals complete the concept.

Prerequisites

What happens if there is no wind?
No wind? No stop! The Kite Evolution clinic is developed to adapt to the weather condition. The schedule can change according to wind time range and if there is no wind at some point, extra activities are planned.

Specific work on visualization and proprioception can be done to increase the rider’s abilities to succeed a new trick.

Who is the Kiteboard Coach?
The Kiteboard Coach is an IKO instructor level 2 with an excellent riding level and at least 800 teaching hours, who received a training to perform assessment of the kiteboarders riding skills and to determine the aspect to correct and enhance riders’ performance.
The Kiteboard Coach is also a cool guy who likes his job and be around people to share his passion of Kiteboarding. Some Coaches are or were professional riders.

What happens if the Clinic is canceled by the organizer?
This can happen if there are not enough candidates. The cancelation will be at least 1 month before the start date of the course. The deposit of the training fee will be paid back to you.

What happens if the candidate cancels the Clinic?
If the candidate cancels less than 1 month before the Clinic starts, the organizer does not reimburse his/her deposit. If s/he cancels more than 1 month before the Clinic starts, the organizer will refund his/her deposit (minus any administrative charges).

IKO Assistant Training Course

Would you like to start your career as a Kiteboard Instructor? This Assistant Training Course is the first step towards a progressive career as an IKO Instructor.

Description

In this course, your IKO Certified Trainer will show you how to teach as a kiteboarding Assistant Instructor under the supervision of an Instructor Level 2 (or higher). Your training will be divided into 3 parts: evaluation and improvement of your knowledge and riding skills, theoretical lessons and practical teaching situation. Your Trainer will help you uncover how an IKO affiliated Kite Center works thereby making you knowledgeable on how to: prepare, use and manage equipment properly; follow the fundamental safety principles; and much more.

You can complete this training in a minimun of 5 days. Your trainer will evaluate your skills and verify if you meet the criteria at the end of your training. If you pass, your trainer will certify you as an IKO Assistant Instructor and you will be able to download your diploma online.

If the training cannot be extended, the candidates will work on teaching simulation and advanced lesson plan building analysis and will then complete their practical training (shadowing) and practical riding level assessment by an IKO Instructor Level 2 or higher.

IKO Instructor Training Course

Do you want to unite your passion with your job? As an IKO Instructor, you will be eligible to teach kiteboarding around the world.

Description

The Instructor Training Course (ITC) is based on IKO kiteboard teaching methods, which are recognized as the international standard in kiteboard teaching. The ITC runs for 5-days and is taught by an Examiner. An Examiner is a professional who is in charge of your training, evaluation and certification as a new Instructor. ITCs are held with a maximum of 8 candidates.

Your Examiner will expand and transform your theoretical knowledge and practice level and turn these skills sets into a mastery of abilities so that you can teach while transferring your love and passion of the sport to others. Your Examiner will also train you interactively on all aspects of safety, practical environment, analysis, technique and teaching psychology. Live situation modules are held to prepare you for real teaching sessions.

If you successfully pass the training, you will be certified as an IKO Instructor level 1, and you will be able to run lessons fully and independently with two students and one kite at the same time.

In case not all the ITC modules have been completed, you may receive shadowing hours at the end of the ITC. This means that you will need to teach under the supervision of an Instructor level 2 or higher for a designated amount of time in order to complete your training and be validated as an Instructor. Shadowing is the best way to complete your training while earning teaching practice.

Note:

If you already have a VDWS, PASA, BKSA, FAV/FEV or FFVL/BPJEPS Instructor Certificate, you can participate in the ITC as well to get your IKO Kiteboard Instructor Certification. This course is called IKO Instructor Equivalency Course (IEC). Please let us know if this is the case and we will send you the information about the prerequisites.

Prerequisites

Please review the prerequisites listed below. In case you don’t meet all the points, just let us know. We can discuss the missing items and see what we can do for you.

The prerequisites for the ITC are:

Be at least 18 years old.
Be able to read, write and speak fluently the language the course is given.
Kiteboarding for at least 1 year and be a certified IKO kiteboarder Level 3N for a minimum of 6 months with the ability of jumping and grab, and toe side riding, board recovery in deep water, rider recovery body dragging (evaluated during ITC).
Have a valid Medic First Aid and CPR certificate which is not older than 2 years, or have completed it before the ITC with the IKO Examiner running the course.
Pass the Assistant exam online with a minimum score of 70%.
Have an IKO Assistant Instructor certification.
Sign the waiver form.

Shadowing

Tornado Surf also offers you to do Shadowing after any ITC. Please contact us to discuss the detailed Shadowing items needed. For the Shadowing be aware that this is done with a Level 2 Instructor and the Fees have to be paid by the person who need to do the Shadowing.
